Elden Ring Runes: 8 Best Farming Spots for Late Game

As you near the final stretch of Elden Ring, Rune demands only intensify. With enemies hitting harder and gear upgrades growing more expensive, efficient farming becomes critical. Fortunately, the Lands Between offers several late-game hotspots where you can rake in Runes fast—whether you're prepping for New Game+ or just trying to max out your build. Below, I’ll walk you through eight of the best Rune farming locations for late-game players, plus some tips for getting the most out of each run.

1. Mohgwyn Palace – Palace Approach Ledge-Road

Arguably the most popular late-game Rune farming spot, this ledge near Mohgwyn Palace is swarming with Albinaurics that offer around 2,000 Runes each. With a high Arcane build or the Sacred Relic Sword, you can wipe out entire waves in seconds. It's also one of the most consistent spots, especially if you’re farming solo.

Pro tip: Equip a Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot before clearing the area to maximize Rune gain. If you’re low on resources, some players look for cheap Elden Ring Items online to supplement their builds, though always be cautious with your sources.

2. Haligtree – Elphael Inner Wall

This zone doesn’t just test your skills—it rewards them. The Cleanrot Knights and Haligtree Soldiers drop a healthy chunk of Runes, often between 3,000–5,000 per kill. The tight corridors make AoE spells and greatswords especially effective.

If you're tackling Malenia soon, this is also a great warm-up zone. Some players even buy Elden Ring runes to save time grinding here, especially if they’re eager to respec or finish upgrades.

3. Crumbling Farum Azula – Dragon Temple Rooftop

Once you reach Farum Azula, head to the Dragon Temple Rooftop Site of Grace. This area is loaded with Beastmen and knights that respawn easily and drop 5,000–6,000 Runes per kill. Use fast-clearing spells or heavy weapons with wide swings to make quick work of them.

This is a perfect farming location for strength or faith builds due to the enemy spacing and tight patrol routes.

4. Consecrated Snowfield – Near Yelough Anix Tunnel

This lesser-known spot is filled with spectral enemies and Knights of the Haligtree. Though the area is a bit dangerous, the reward is high—especially with Rune-boosting gear.

The route works best if you’ve already cleared out the immediate threats and can run back and forth quickly. Combine this with a farming talisman set to boost your efficiency.

5. Mountaintops of the Giants – Giant-Conquering Hero’s Grave

If you’re comfortable with chariots and fire traps, this dungeon is an excellent Rune mine. Killing the spectral warriors inside can net you a good chunk of Runes, and the enemies respawn quickly if you know the layout.

This one isn’t for the faint of heart, but it’s worth the risk. Players short on consumables sometimes buy Elden Ring runes or other materials to avoid wasting time here.

6. Siofra River – Above Nokron

The enemies above Nokron in the Siofra region offer decent Rune drops, especially the Nightfolk and Ancestral Followers. While not the absolute best spot numerically, it's a scenic and low-stress area for those wanting a break from intense combat zones.

Pairing this location with your favorite AoE incantation makes for a relaxing and effective farming route.

7. Deeproot Depths – Across the Rooted Grounds

This secretive and atmospheric area is home to many high-Rune enemies like Crucible Knights and Erdtree Avatars. If you’re confident in your skills and build, you can turn this into a high-yield farming route.

Just beware of tight ambush spots and sudden boss encounters. Preparation is key—having a few cheap Elden Ring Items like health buffs and FP-restoring gear can really help you stay on track here.

8. Leyndell, Ashen Capital – West Capital Rampart

After Leyndell is transformed, the Ashen Capital variant offers a fresh set of enemies and Rune rewards. The Erdtree soldiers and knights here drop substantial Runes, and they’re spaced well enough to allow strategic takedowns.

It’s not as fast-paced as Mohgwyn, but it's a solid backup route, especially if you’re already progressing through the story and want to farm along the way.

By the late game, the need for Runes goes well beyond leveling up—you’ll want them for smithing stones, ashes of war, and even backup gear sets. These farming spots let you stock up efficiently without detouring too far from your progression. Whether you're farming traditionally or supplementing with cheap Elden Ring Items, understanding your build and optimizing routes is the real secret to efficient Rune grinding.

And if time is tight, some Tarnished choose to buy Elden Ring runes to get a head start. However you go about it, there’s no shortage of late-game opportunities to boost your bank of Runes in Elden Ring.
